Recent Phoenix Rising signing and Chivas legend Omar Bravo arrived in Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport last week to an ecstatic crowd of fans and media. The Mexican international was received with cheers and chants by an array of supporters. Rising, Chivas and Mexican jerseys surrounded Bravo as he took photos and spoke about his ambitions with the club.
“I’m very happy that the team thought about me and I hope to have great results for them,” Bravo told reporters.
Bravo, a prolific striker, brings a wealth of experience to Phoenix, playing most of his career for Mexico’s top teams including Chivas Guadalajara, Tigres, Cruz Azul, and Atlas. Most recently Bravo plied his trade for North Carolina FC (formally the Carolina Railhawks) of the NASL, where he made 14 appearances and scored 4 goals.
With a smile, he shared his desire to bring joy to the people of Phoenix through world football. Phoenix Rising FC is eager to make its first playoffs this season and with Bravo the club’s future is looking bright. With 168 goals to his name, Bravo is sure to make an immediate impact on the field.
This Saturday, March 4th, Bravo and Rising FC will take on the ‘Lopes at Grand Canyon University Stadium, in their second match of their preseason campaign.
