Phoenix Rising FC kick their season off on March 25 against Toronto FC II. Just a couple weeks ago their new home stadium, Phoenix Rising Soccer Complex, was a plot of desert with nothing on it. My how things have changed. In just a few short weeks the land has been graded, most of the stands are constructed and the sod has been laid.

I actually drive by the stadium on a daily basis and I won’t lie, I didn’t think it was going to be done in time. There was literally nothing there a couple weeks ago. When a team lays sod, it needs time to take hold before a sporting event can be played on it. With the sod getting laid down at the beginning of last week, it has nearly three weeks to take hold.
It’s unclear if that will be enough time to get the field into a great playing shape, but it will have to be. Not only does PRFC open the season at home, but they play five of their first six games in their new home. Their lone road game comes on April 1 against the Real Monarchs before returning home for four straight games from April 8 (LA Galaxy II) through May 13 (OKC Energy FC).
To give you a look at the field Phoenix Rising sent their owner, coach and players down last Wednesday before leaving for their two preseason games in California, and shot a little video that you can view below as well as a gallery of that visit.
For a point of reference, here is a video from February 16 that the team released of the stadium progress.
Your last chance to see Phoenix Rising before the regular season starts, will be March 17 against Grand Canyon University at Grand Canyon.
