Just one year and four games into his three-year deal as manager of Phoenix Rising FC, Frank Yallop is stepping down, according to a release from the club this morning. Assistant Coach and former FC Tucson head coach Rick Schantz will assume an interim role as Rising’s head coach.
Citing a move home to his family in Northern California, Yallop will assist the club’s “international search committee focused on finding the best new head coach to help continue the team’s early success and build soccer operations for likely expansion into MLS.”
An unlikely replacement is former US Men’s National Team coach Jurgen Klinsmann, though JK was recently the guest of Rising FC for a less-than-official visit.

Yallop had a decorated career in Major League Soccer, winning Coach of the Year twice, and was supposedly reviving his career in Phoenix after a difficult spell with the Chicago Fire. A move to California does not hint at any open coaching opportunities at the moment.
