After his two-goal performance Saturday night against Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC, Phoenix Rising forward Jason Johnson was named the USL Player of the Week Tuesday, the league announced.

Johnson came on as a second-half substitute and scored goals in the 66th and 84th minutes to help extend Phoenix Rising’s unbeaten streak to six matches.

Johnson earned 41 percent of the vote in a poll of national writers, narrowly beating out Swope Park Rangers’ Kharlton Belmar for the Week 17 honor. Johnson becomes the first player for Phoenix Rising this season to be named the Player of the Week.
