The United Soccer League has named Phoenix Rising FC Goalkeeper Josh Cohen the USL Player of the Month for September 2017.  Cohen appeared in eight games, and tallied six clean sheets and an 88.9 save percentage.  Cohen’s efforts were a major contributing factor to Rising’s first ever trip to the USL Cup Playoffs.

Cohen’s efforts are well rewarded behind a defense that took several weeks to congeal.  Phoenix Rising FC was one of the final 2 teams to earn a clean sheet in Week 13 in a draw against Reno 1868 FC on the last day of June.  Since that time, the team has racked up 9 total shutouts (Cohen – 8, Woszczynski -1).

The Player of the Month is chosen via poll consisting of members of a USL Committee, national independent media, and an online fan vote held at uslsoccer.com.
