The MLS preseason got off to a great start in the Kino Sports Complex down in Tucson, where Real Salt Lake took a 3-1 win over the LA Galaxy in the first match of the Mobile Mini Sun Cup.

The game was a good way for both teams to get a feel for the upcoming season. The match had some great highlights from RSL’s Joao Plata, who took two good shots on goal. Giovani Dos Santos of the Galaxy made his presence known, making some good runs at the keeper.

The deadlock was broken after an LA squad change, by Michael Ciani, putting the Galaxy up 1-0. After the half, RSL tied it up on a Bofo Saucedo penalty, and took the lead later in the half via Nick Besler, who converted off a corner kick.

Salt Lake added the exclamation point when a low cross into the box found Sebastian Velasquez, who notched to the left corner. RSL would hold on to claim the preseason victory.
